Road Warriors

The Jazz get their first road victory of the season against a Clipper team that is going absolutely nowhere. The Clippers go from 47 wins and taking the Suns to seven games in the Western Conference Semis in 05-06 to this team with a completely new roster and is already 0-4. The franchise seemed liked it was going the right direction with Elton Brand but even with the addition of Baron Davis and Camby, this team isn't going anywhere near the playoffs. Davis is a guy that gets the money he is making because he does things as a point guard that no one else can do but he isn't a great leader, he gets injured all the time and if you were going to rebuild, might as well have passed on Davis for a better free agent next year or the year afterwards. Even with a full squad, the team looks like one that is going to get beaten up by the rest of the West. Thornton is going to be a nice player. Kaman at times can look like a top 5 center but he sure is a black hole. At least he plays hard. Camby needs to be on a contending team at this point to make an impact. I still think a team like the Jazz would be perfect but he is making 10 million and salary doesn't fit.
Obviously Milsap isn't going to go crazy like he did the other night every night but he is an underrated scorer. I feel like the Jazz under utilize him only giving him 20 minutes a game but its is hard to find minutes at the PF spot. Boozer needs minutes as he is so efficient down low and watching Kirilenko play more around the basket when Boozer is out lets him score more around the basket and not force him to fling wild jumpers. Kirilenko again played well but you can see that he does all of his damage on most nights with his ability to get easy shots near the basket. He can still rebound when he needs to but he can't be floating waiting for kick outs to do that. You wonder about the future of the team as Boozer is going to be a free agent this next year and then the team is going to lose Boozer for nothing. You have to think that if you can package Boozer and Almond in a deal for a center that the team would end up coming out ok from this situation. AK could go back and play the PF with Milsap playing more minutes making them both more effective. I'm not sure what is going to happen with Memo this summer but it would be nice to be able to resign him at less then what he is making now.
I like Ronnie Price but by mid season Knight might end up taking all of his minutes. He is just more efficient as a point guard, doesn't take wild shots and doesn't hold the ball till the end of the shot clock. Price is going to have improve his shooting but think pass more which you can tell is not his first inclination. Knight is a natural point guard and knows his limitations as as shooter which makes him the perfect fit for a Jerry Sloan offense.
